A separate, distinct proposal from the AWS Project Rainier campus nearby: a 1,057-acre agricultural-to-industrial rezoning petition northeast of New Carlisle, first read at the St. Joseph County council in May 2025. The only public lead on the developer is a New York filing address also linked to a Pennsylvania data-center operator, no company has been confirmed. The County Area Plan Commission gave a unanimous unfavorable recommendation and the New Carlisle Town Council opposed it; the County Council voted 7-2 against the rezoning in December 2025, effectively rejecting the proposal. (This record previously and incorrectly attributed the site to Vantage Data Centers, which has no confirmed New Carlisle project; Vantage's real Indiana site is tracked separately at Pittsboro/Hendricks County.)
