Balico proposed a large data-center complex with on-site natural-gas generation on 2,200+ acres in Pittsylvania County, near Mountain Valley Pipeline infrastructure, reported at up to $3.7B over a 10-15 year build-out. The original proposal (with a much larger gas plant) was withdrawn in April 2025 after resident pushback; a scaled-back ~300 MW version was floated. Included as a speculative/withdrawn Southside project.
